emotionally attended

Hi.

"The singer gave an emotionally attended performance."

When we say like this, who/what was emotional?

This was the singer's last performance, and he retired after that. I firstly thought his performance was moving and touching, but then wondered if it's the audience who attended there that was emotional. Or does it mean the singer put a lot of emotion into his performance?

Thanks.

Whoever wrote that does not have a good command of English. I suppose they meant that the audience felt strong emotions, but I do not think that a performance can be emotionally attended. Maybe they were going for "emotionally received".

Thank you, enoon.
I'm glad to hear your opinion. I thought it's strange that the writer used "attend" here, too.
Maybe she wanted to say the performance made the audience feel strong emotions as you suggested.
