hello, dear moderators I have seen you doing great job helping people to perfect their letters. I need this as well, I guess:) But this should be not the usual Mot. Letter, but it should make people like I do, that if I will not get this Mastes's and a scholarship for it, I'll be doomed. Not really overestimating the risk of coming to Belarus now.... Thanks a lot in advance for help best, Alexandra __________________________________________________________________________________________
Dear Sir or Madam, I’m writing to apply for the Master’s Program in International Protection of Human Rights at the .......... University. My aim is to work in the field of International protection of Human rights. Therefore I want to gain a deeper theoretical knowledge in different systems of Intenational and European Protection of Human rights, it's methods and tools, to have a good base for studying for a PHD degree and doing original research and working aat Universities then. I’m an International Law Student at the European Humanities University (Minsk, Belarus) and I will receive the Barchelor’s degree in July 2005. Unfortunately European Humanities University was closed this summer in Belarus because of political reasons (there have been a lot of information in the Media, since it was the only free, liberal and democracy-oriented University in Belarus), but then reopened as an International educational institution in Vilnius, Lithuania. Luckily, after completing a year’s program of 12 courses by German lecturers in International Law by International Foundation for Legal Cooperation in 2003, I won a scholarship for studying for a semester in Hamburg University, Germany, so I didn’t have to start my education from the beginning in the state University in Belarus, as many of my colleagues had to. Now I'm completing several courses on EU law in the Hamburg University and writing a research paper on the topic "Application of International Intellectual Property Protection to the Third World Countries". It is a quite challenging task, but till now I succeded, and completing it will surely give me the needed skills for studying for Master's degree, like ability to make degree studies in a foreign language (this time it's German and I have already taken part in numerous educational events in English), ability to produce good results despite the deadline pressure, This is not my first educational stay abroad - in the summer 2004 I have been awarded a scholarshiop for participating in the Hague Academy of International Law Summer School. There I was happy to use the biggest library on International law in the world, and I gained very useful skills of working with lot of sources of information and scientific literature, which help me to write my research here and will surely help me to complete the Master's thesis. Apart from the formal education I also took part in some extracurricular activities, such as participation in the international debate tounaments for 5 years already, which gave me a lot of experience in public speaking, making presentations, and helped to develop both analythical and synthetic thinking. I also have taken part in several projects by UNICEF, UNESCO and UNDP since I was in high school, and that gave me the idea I want to deal with protection of human rights, and also gave me the insight of what international organizations are. I want to take part in the Master's program because it's one of the best programs on the International Protection of Human Rights in Europe and I find the courses proposed really usefull for my education and future professional carier. (Cooperation with WIPO for Lund) Moreover, I always wanted to come to..........., not only as a visitor, but to live in this city as a student.
Please, see my CV attached for additional information and don't hesitate to contact me. Thanks a lot for considering my application. I really hope to take part in the Master's course Sincerely yours, Alexandra
