Emotional

Hi!

Do the words "emotional" and "sentimental" always have a bit negative connotation? If we say that a person is emotional, does it sound disapproving?

If that is the case, can you help me with a word that has same/similar meaning, but without the negative sound to it?

Thank you for your answer.

No, not at all-- some people think being emotional and/or sentimental is an admirable quality; others do not. Often, it depends on the point of view. I am deeply sentimental, but might accuse another of being so if s/he effused over something that did not affect me.
