I couldn't understand what Emma thought to herself. Make me understand it please

Oops! more confusing! Till chapter 40 Jane Austen doesn't give any hint that either Emma or Harriet is in love with Frank Churchill. Why, then, Emma mentioned Frank Churchill? Though the court plaister was given back to Harriet by Elton and not by Frank. Isn't it confusing?

.
Harriet saved the plaister because it was touched by the man she loves. I forget which man that is.

Emma thinks to herself that she would never save something that Mr Churchill touched.

R/sir you explanation has really cleared the meaning of the text but I'm still confused that why Emma thought in this way whilst she confessed just before chapter 40 that she is not in love with Frank.
