Vocabulary

Embrace....as ..in it.

Hi teachers,

But how can I continue to send my kid to church?...there is no answer. Stay, and - as the catechism teaches - embrace the church as the people and the good priests and sisters in it: their prayers, their songs, their service.

1. What does "as" mean?

2. What does the colon mean to say in this text?

3. Does "their service" mean "Sunday service", "Sunday school", "prayer meetings", and Sunday sermon"? Can you tell what service is?

Thank you.

1. This use of "as" feels cryptic to me. I take it to mean that when embracing the church you are really embracing the people, priests and sisters that constitute it.
