Hello everyone,
please let me know which of these sentences is CORRECTLY WRITTEN:
1. Please let me know when would be the best time to call you.
2. Please let me know when the best time to call you would be.
ANOTHER VERSION OF THE SAME IDEA
1a. Please let me know when is the best time to call you.
2a. Please let me know when the best time to call you is.
I don't think 1 and 1a are correct. Normally, we ask questions in this manner: When would be the best time to call you? However, the material in 1 and 1a is not a question but a statement. Therefore, I think that 2 and 2a are the correct sentences. Aren't they? Please let me know.
I believe this grammatical concept that I am referring here is embedded questions... Right?
You are right. Subject-auxiliary inversion is normal with embedded questions, so 2 and 2a are both correct. Their full grammatical name is subordinate interrogative content clauses !
