I've read something about embedded questions which are a kind of noun clause.They begin with if and whether (or not).
Example:
I wonder whether he sells his shop or not?

I forgot to tell they can also begin with (who,whom,which,when,where,how,how many,how much.
But you should use normal word order ,not question word order.
Do you know how far it is to Hawaii?
