emailing ?!

Hi there,

I don't know why but these sentences look kind of strange to me...

1. Im almost certain you have already tried emailing me.
2. But now that we're emailing eachother again I'll make sure...

Shouldn't there be, in the first one, "I'm almost certain you have tried TO email me." ?
And, why is there present continuous in the second one, instead of the present simple
(email instead of emailing) ?

thx,

best,

The continuous is fine in both sentences, as are your alternatives. In #1, try + ing and try to + infinitive have essentially the same meaning. In #2, the continuous is friendlier: it accentuates the activity.
