Email to contact a researcher for my PhD (not a cover letter)
Dear Mr XXX,
After discovering through your website the projects in which your research group is currently involved, I was wondering if there would be any possibility that I could join your team for my PhD studies.
I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering and a Master of Research in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Oviedo (Spain), and I have been working as a CAE engineer in the rollforming industry for almost three years.
Throughout this time, my job has mainly consisted of analysing the process through finite element simulations. This has allowed me not only to gradually gain understanding of the sources of its main defects, but also to design strategies to eliminate and/or counteract them.
In addition, I have found that rollforming is still relatively unexplored, so I would like my work to contribute to the development of further knowledge about the subject. In this regard, I believe that this aim closely matches your area of research.
Should it be of your interest, I will be happy to provide you with further information about my background and career goals. I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Pablo García Chao
