Question

Could you please check the following sentences for any grammatical mistakes (it's school related!)? I feel it's not 100% correct. Thank you

There is one display board available for each year group and I would like them to be up within the next 3 weeks with the deadline being Monday 27th of November. Please make sure that the work displayed is related to the current unit of work.

Also, I will soon be asking teachers about the delivering of the Art curriculum to get a better idea of the support needed. If you have any questions in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to ask me.

Coming into this class, I wasn’t sure what to expect. My worries were that there wouldn’t be another individual in the class wasn’t a K-12 educator or that I’d be so young that I wouldn’t be taken seriously. I quickly realized that I wasn’t alone and I could often relate to the struggles that some of the classmates were having in their professions. I enjoyed this class and all of the class discussions that took place because it helped me think more critically and have a more open mind about our educators in our community.

In this class, I have thoroughly enjoyed the readings. I have never been a huge reader because a lack of interest in the materials given in class but the readings in this class has been great. Becoming a Leader by Warren Bennis has been my favorite book that we read. Becoming a Leader has allowed me to think about the leaders in my life: at Miami, at church, past professors, in my household growing up, my husband and teachers/ coaches from high school and critically analyze and begin to think about what kind of leaders they are and who I want to become one day. I really enjoyed analyzing that reading and hope that it helps me better shape the leader that I am becoming.

I have also enjoyed the Change Theorist readings by reading one of the change theorists each class or one at a time. It has helped me to digest the change theorist and reflect on each theorist as we went on throughout class and our projects. All of the readings in class have allowed me to analyze different leaders and all of the class discussions have allowed me to see how other students evaluate leaders and their thoughts as well. The Mindset book has allowed me, and I think everyone in the class, to think about the way they approach students differently. Knowing that I have a very fixed mindset and I come from a very fixed mindset family, this book has allowed me to think about each situation and how I react or interact with people and having an open/ growth mindset about each thing that I approach.

I would like to think that I had a different perspective to the readings and class discussion because of my background and career. I liked interacting with K-12 educators and also the students in class from Miami. I felt that if the struggles that I had, others had as well. I feel like I have grown in my knowledge about leadership, mindsets and change within education from this class. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the Transformative Education program has in store for me.

Change Initiative Plan

The Change Initiative Plan has been a great experience for me because our group topic has everything to do with my current position at Miami and how this process took place. Our Change Initiative Plan is about Miami Middletown and Miami Hamilton coming together as being represented as Miami Regionals. This process took place before I came to Miami University as a student and staff member but it has been fun for me to see how this process could have taken place.

The group has each contributed toward this project and the process that we set up to get this project complete went smoothly. Marianne Contugo set up a document that we worked on a different section each week when we came to class. We were able to get our paper written, put the standards in and have our readings represented before we came to class last week. Every team member acted creatively in this project and we all learn the process of Change. I think that the structure of this paper helped me realize how change can be done effectively and efficiently. Each step of change that we have learned and evaluated has helped me think about change in my profession differently now.
