Email account

I will no longer use this email account. Or

I will no longer be using this email account.

What's the difference between the two sentences.

Top answer

The first is a statement in the present tense meaning I have ceased as of now using the email account. The second is a future tense statement meaning at some time in the near future I will not be using the email account, although the statement would be better if it were qualified by adding an estimate of when. Such as; I will no longer be using this email account as of next week.
