Email!

when I write official mails to someone asking them to do something I write at the end as "I request you to look in to the issue and do the needful" I read somewhere that "do the needful" is not the right expression, what about the other one?

Hi Depending on the person I was writing to, I might say: - Please can you have a look at this for me and do what's needed 'Do the needful' is recognisable in London but it has quite an out-dated feel to it. I think it is an Indian / South Asian expression in London - nothing wrong with that - but it is out-of-date Best regards Dave
