Letter Writing

[emai] important email that definitely needs corrections

Dear Users,

I would like to send an email to one of the universities in Canada. I have never sent a letter like that and I would like to ask for your assistance. Could you please go over it and help me fix it? I realize it's a bit long, but hopefully you'll be able to help me out.

Dear Sir or Madam, (I hear that this form is a bit old-fashioned)

I would like to inquire about the possibility of pursuing a degree at the University of Toronto. As you will surely notice, my situation is somewhat different from what probably could be considered as a typical one.

Allow me please to briefly introduce myself. I come from XYZ and I am 32 years old. I graduated from university a good while ago and entered professional life. I majored in Education (BA) and History of English and American Literature and Culture (MA) I have spent the past years in China, where I have been simultaneously teaching the history of the United States, as well as English and Literature classes, and learning Chinese at the same time. After all those years I have realized that my biggest dream and goal is to return to school to pursue another Master's degree, and possibly, a PhD.

I have also realized that my passions lie within numerous fields, not necessarily related to what I majored in. I would like to enter a new career path related to computer science and in order to do that, I would have to re-educate myself.

Unfortunately, I feel that at my age, I cannot allow myself to pursue another Bachelor's degree (unless in could be done in the evenings or during the weekends) and I do not know if I would be allowed to take a higher level studies without prior background in the field. Also, what I would like to ask about is would it be possible to obtain any kind of funding to reduce the tuition fees? I am a highly competent teacher with over 6 years of teaching experience. Is it possible to apply for TA's position or any other supporting role on the campus?

I would be very grateful if I could seek some advice from the admission office regarding the above-mentioned circumstances.

With kind regards,

Thank you very much. Would you say that it's not necessary to use the word simultaneously?
