Eke/ eke out

Is it a protocol that eke* would always be followed by *out?
e.g. This gives judicial system its utility and justification and and enables a person to "eke" accountability.
Is this sentence correct?

The sentence is mistyped. I can only guess you meant to type "This gives the judicial system its utility and justification and enables a person to eke accountability." I can't tell what you mean.

I didn't say it can't be used. I meant that if you do use it that way, you will irritate a small number of crazy people like me. She did not supplement her living working as a sign painter, she simply made a poor living working as one. "Eke"
