Egotism (noun or adjective?)

Finding herself world-famous by the time she was eighteen only encouraged the actress's egotism.

1) I can't see the word egotism as a noum. To me, it's an adjective because it's telling us about the noun actress (qualifying the noun). So wouldn't it be an adjective?

2) Is the phrase "Only man’s egoism is egoistical" correct?

3) What is the difference between egoist and egotist?
