Eg. and etc. together in a list

Is it wrong to put 'etc.' at the end of a list beginning with 'e.g'? For example in the sentences below.

`There were lots of fruits there, e.g. apples, mangoes, apricots, oranges, etc.

A noun that names a male belongs to the masculine gender, e.g. man, boy, king, etc.
