E.g. 1999, 2000 ...

Hi

Another scholar who believes there is early evidence of warfare is the English archaeologist Nick Thorpe (e.g., 1999, 2000). He believes there is evidence of warfare as far back as the Mesolithic (ninth millennum BCE). He suggests three different types of evidence that show signs of conflict: weapons, depictions of fighting, and skeletal remains.

--- I have no idea what the author means by writing "(e.g., 1999, 2000)". I suppose these are years, but what do they refer to?

Top answer

They are publication dates. Presumably in the back of the book there is a bibliography. Look under 'Thorpe, Nick' and his referenced publications will be listed in chronological order by date.
