Effect vs Affect

Which is the correct one to use in the following segment?

"this will not effect you."

Should I be using affect?

Thanks

Top answer

This will not affect you. Two things to remember that makes it easier: effect is a noun, as special effects in movies; when it is a verb it means "to cause" as in 'his appearance effected an immediate silence in the auditorium'.
