In this day and age, it is true that a number of youngsters have a great deal of difficulty in staying focused in classes. There are two main reasons causing this trend, and it seems to me that parents and teachers have to join hands to tackle this problem.
To begin with, the aforementioned problem has roots in two main factors. The first one is the boredom of traditional classes. The way to convey knowledge is one of the factors that help students enjoy the lecture. Because many lectures lack relevance to life and repeating monotonous theories, it is difficult for students to absorb all the knowledge. The result leads to a loss of attention to that subject and no motivation to study. Another sound explanation is the attraction of electronic devices. In the era of technology development, social networks and games become popular and attractive to students. Instead of opting to listen to lectures, students use smartphones to access websites unrelated to their studies. This causes social media addiction and distraction in lectures.
To address the underlying causes, I would propose two solutions. Firstly, teachers should improve their lesson plans by combining theoretical and practical sides to better engage students in class. Compared to just focusing on theory, giving lectures with diagrams and making connections to real life attract more students' attention. When the school creates more field trips, students have engaging experiences that stimulate curiosity and interest in that subject. Secondly, parents should inform their children about the negative impacts of harnessing technological gadgets at school as well as schools imposing restriction on carrying these devices to class. In fact, when students do not have electronic devices, it will avoid distractions from websites.
In conclusion, the distraction modern gadgets and the brick-and-mortar classes are the reason for students not paying attention. In my perspective, this issue could be addressed by the school prohibiting students from using digital devices during class and modernize the curriculum
