Topic: To improve the quality of education, people think that we should encourage our students to evaluate and criticize their teachers. Others believe that it will result in a loss of respect and discipline in the classroom. Discuss both views and give your opinion
Nowadays, governments in every country feature the great importance and influence of education on the development of nation so they have been making huge efforts to enhance the quality of education. One of them is: encouraging students to evaluate and criticize their teachers. However, this takes some rejection from not few people as they suppose that it will result in a loss of respect and discipline in the classroom. Indeed, regardless how great a solution is, it always has latent risks or unexpected outcomes. This case is not exception.
Firstly, about the positive side, evaluating and criticizing is a great chance for students to show their opinion and evaluation about their teachers, including: the teaching method, the professional ethics. From my point of view, this is very practical, simultaneously, it would bring the effective outcome for education. By the comments of students, the teachers would quickly recognize their strength and weakness in their teaching method or the issues in their behavior. From that, they are motivated to adjust their way of teaching to bring the better education to students.
Secondly, about the negative side, the students’ criticism is not always cooperative, they can be offensive or even though destructive. And this goes beyond the respect and discipline in the classroom. Moreover, it also negatively impacts to the quality of education.
In conclusion, this idea is really effective when students have cooperative desire to improve the quality of education and by the contrast, it won’t work out. So the missions of educators are: figuring out the solutions to utilize the advantages and minimize the disadvantages.
