educatedness: The state of being educated. I think educated does the job just fine. No need for the -ness.

Educatedness shows, more so than educated, that I was questioning the degree or quality of "being educated", or even that I was questioning the very idea of "being educated". I think educatedness is entirely appropriate, given that it is the idea of "being educated" that is under discussion. Nevertheless, I will rephrase. What does it mean to be educated?

I was looking for something more. These definitions are - necessarily I think - ambiguous and vague. I would no more look up a dictionary to learn about educatedness than I would to learn about the discipline of linguistics itself. Yes, the dictionary gives you denotations, but it is no substitute for discussion. I was thinking more along these lines:
