**Editorial Question**

An editor and I need your opinion.

In the examples below, would you use commas? No recasts, please. Would you go with the examples in set one or two?

Set 1:
a 3-year 8-month 2-day project
The project lasted 3 years 8 months 2 days.

a 4-hour 52-minute 9-second marathon
The marathon lasted 4 hours 52 minutes 9 seconds.

a 2-hour 18-minute rain delay
The rain delay lasted 2 hours 18 minutes.

*Use of "And":
The marathon lasted 4 hours 52 minutes and 9 seconds.

Versus:

Set 2:
a 3-year, 8-month, 2-day project
The project lasted 3 years, 8 months, 2 days.

a 4-hour, 52-minute, 9-second marathon
The marathon lasted 4 hours, 52 minutes, 9 seconds.

a 2-hour, 18-minute rain delay
The rain delay lasted 2 hours, 18 minutes.

*Use of "And":
The marathon lasted 4 hours, 52 minutes and 9 seconds.
