Editorial Elixir

I can't rephrase and am arduously seeking the elixir to this. Do the examples below—especially the fiction ones—work without all the suspensive hyphenation? How about the nonfiction with the numerals? Is there anything you'd change in any?

Nonfiction: a $40,000–$50,000 a year job
Fiction: a forty thousand to fifty thousand dollar a year job

Nonfiction: a $10–$20 million a year industry (or would you repeat "million" after "$10" so it didn't appear as "ten dollars"?
Fiction: a ten million to twenty million dollar a year industry / Also: a ten to twenty million dollar a year industry (both look okay for fiction?)

Nonfiction: a 10–20% a week increase
Fiction: a ten to twenty percent a week increase

Hi, here are my corrections: A $40,000-$50,000 a year job A forty- to fifty-thousand a year job (or "a forty to fifty thousand a year job" - the hyphens are optional) A $10-$20 million a year industry - it's not necessary to repeat "million" A ten- to twenty-million dollar a year industry A 10-20% a week increase A ten- to twenty-percent a week increase So in general they're fine. Also, do you mean "solution" instead of "elixir"? An elixir is a type of magical potion in fantasy novels
