The dean of the Raffles college of higher education,
Dear Mr. ….., I’m writing to ask for a refund. I have registered in the course “Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design” in Raffles College in Malaysia, which starts on July 2nd, and I was eagerly looking forward to take this course and graduate from you college until I had this sudden devastating phone call from home letting me know that my father has gone bankrupt. My college education has always been my father’s dream and priority and he had promised to provide me with all the expenses as he was sure he would have enough money to do so. Unfortunately one of my father’s partners who owed my father a great sum of money escaped and left Iran with my father’s and some other people’s money and this led to the whole business going bankrupt and left my father with a huge financial problem. I’m deeply depressed both for what has happened to my father and my being unable to pursue my goals. All my friends have continued their education but what about me? I know that asking for a refund is against the college rules, which I respect deeply, but I beg you as a true human being, no matter what religious belief you have I sincerely respect you and your beliefs and ask you to help me like a member of your own family. Just consider me a child or sibling of your own who is desperately in need of your help. If the college agrees to offer me a refund for the 16000 RM I paid for my first semester, I will be able to go back home to help my father. I am desperately looking forward to your kind consideration and quick reply and thank you in advance. Sincerely, Neme (Student ID: …….)
