Edit this paragraph!

Hi All,

I was given the following paragraph to edit, and I'd like to for anyone who has a second to edit it so I can compare mine with yours. One thing I'm struggling with is the comma usage in the first few words.

Should I place a comma after herder, or not?

"In 2007, a reindeer herder named Yuri Khudy, discovered ..."

Or

In 2007, a reindeer herder, named Yuri Khudy, discovered ..."

“In 2007 a reindeer herder named Yuri Khudy discovered Lyuba in western Siberia. The discovery was groundbreaking. Unlike other mammoths that had been found before then, Lyuba was almost perfectly preserved. Although her thick hair decayed, her trunk, organs, soft tissue and bones were still intact. Because Luyba was found with mothers’ milk still in her stomach, scientists hoped to learn more about the growth stages of baby mammoths. Palontologists at the University Of Michigan studied Lyuba to gain knowlege about the aging process of young mammoths, as well how mature mammoths reproduced.”

"In 2007, a reindeer herder, Yuri Khudy, discovered ..."

Or

In 2007, a reindeer herder named Yuri Khudy discovered ..." : this one is preferable here.

“In 2007, a reindeer herder named Yuri Khudy discovered Lyuba in western Siberia. The discovery was groundbreaking. Unlike other mammoths that had been found before then***, Lyuba was almost perfectly preserved.

It is cheating to ask for help editing this paragraph for the copy editor position. If you cannot do the work for the application, how do you expect to do it when actually required to for the job? That is unfair to those who are capable of performing the required task.

Hello, Vicki—and welcome to English Forums. I wouldn't worry: the proof's in the pudding.
