1u00The Effects of Bad Parenting02u02br
02br
00Bad parenting is a major issue in today’s society. Bad parenting can potentially lead children into drug abuse, alcoholism, gambling, smoking, and other undesirable behaviors. These children know that these actions are bad but they have little or no supervision to guide them onto the right path all the time. Bad parenting has caused our society to waste tremendous amounts of money on things such as rehab and other recovery facilities because parents disregard their children.02br

00Children need guidance and good influences early in their lives and continually through every step of life. Children need to know what is right and what is wrong. Neglected children act the way they want because they realize that their parents don’t really care about them. When parents don’t enforce rules, children will become rebellious and ignore all set guidelines. There is an old saying that I heard when I was a kid that applies to this world. It goes, “It will take one a longer time to learn good habits such as studying, making good friends, and developing a good work ethic, than it would to take one step down the wrong path and ruin your life forever.” 02br

00Secondly, children are the same as any other people. They require respect. If parents just yell at them everyday, and think that they cannot learn from their mistakes, the child feels frightened and frustrated, and decide to slip behind their parents’ backs and partake in devious activities. There are some parents who are just a pain. They want to care for their children, but at the same time they just let them do whatever they want. The child does not understand what the right choice in many situations is because they are always given varying answers by their parents. Some parents bring this occurrence on by contradicting themselves regularly.02br

00Children interpret what they have seen from their parents into daily life. This can lead to terrible life choices; especially if a parent is unclear in their moral teaching. Children learn nothing from their parents if their parents hold a double standard. Some parents just do not care. Parents should always represent a good model for their children. If children do not learn anything from their parents, it most likely sets that child up for failure. Parents set an example to show the children that if they do wrong, they will have chances to learn from their mistakes, and subsequently correct the behavior. Consequences should be implemented for actions, but yelling rarely solves anything. Parenting is a tremendous responsibility. Bringing up a child that has strong values and a great sense of what is morally right and wrong is crucial for successful development in life. 0-
