Hello,
If somone is doing something that is almost illegal but not quite, would it be correct to say any of the following about him:
He is operating on the edge of the law / at the edge of the law / on the edge of law / at the edge of law ?

Thanks a lot, Clive. I think I was misled into believing that no article was needed by such phrases as "the rule of law" or "law and order", where "law" appears bare. There must be some difference here that I fail to see.
