Edgar Allan Poe. Grammar mistake??

Hi. It is a pleasure to be part of this forum.

Por is one of my favorite writers. I have learnt gobs of new words by reading his tales. Everytme I peruse The Tell-Tale Heart, I find the same ¿mistake?


"I held the lantern motionless"


Shouldn´t be: I held the latern motionlessly?
