Eating VS Eating

Hello,

I've been circling around in trying to find the difference between "my eating of the pizza" and "my eating the pizza".

Which one of the following sentences is correct?

  1. My eating of the pizza saved my my cat's life.
  2. My eating the pizza saved my cat's life.

Your answer/s would mean two mountains to me.
