Grammar

easy or easily?

A dog will be able to smell your stash very easy if you leave it in plain sight.

I thoughe easy because it's modifying 'smell', which is a sense.

My approach:

Adjectives modify nouns.
Adverbs modify verbs.

So, if you want to apply the word "easy" to the verb "smell", it should be easily.

I recently made a similar mistake in this sentence:

1. The artang looked menacingly.
2. The artang looked menacing.

The first sentence says the his look was menacing whilst the second one tells the same

Hi,

What's an artang, please?

Clive: «What's an artang, please?»

Artangs are evil humanoid creatures from the Star Heritage adventure game, which I am still translating (if you remember). I am now close to the end BTW...

You use the adjective forms with smell and other verbs of the senses when they are used as linking verbs.
Here you have a direct object smell your stash, so it's not a linking verb, and the adverb form is needed.

Compare:
The wine tastes good. (not well)
The judges tasted the wine carefully. (not careful)
