Easter egg surprise

Hello,

Do you call "surprise" the thing or things that you find inside an Easter egg? We say things like
- What surprise did you find inside your egg?

Is that how you would say it, too?

Also, our eggs are made of chocolate, and there normally is one "surprise" inside. How do things work in the English-speaking world?

Thank you
H.

  • I don't know of any official word for that because, as I say, I have never seen it here.

I see. Do you have other kinds of eggs with things inside, or it's just not part of your tradition?

In the UK it is common to have large hollow chocolate eggs with candy inside. They sometimes come in ornate boxes. In the US these are not seen much. Here people often hide real eggs that have been painted, or colored plastic eggs that are about the same size, around the yard, and the kids are issued with baskets and sent to find the eggs. Sometimes there are prizes for finding the most eggs, etc

That's probably more like it in my case. I don't much attention to these things. Blue Jay's reply seems quite reasonable to me.
