Speech & Pronunciation

east / yeast; ooze / woos.

Although I have engaged a native speaker as my private tutor, I still cannot hear any difference in pronunciation between east / yeast, ooze / woos. Can anyone help me distinguish these two pairs in pronunciation? Thank you very much for your help.

They are very close. With east and yeast try thinking about the difference between yes and the name of the letter S 'ess'. The y creates a sound at the back of the mouth first before the ess part.
