Easing

Hi,

"The CBI's latest survey of the manufacturing sector, released yesterday, showed a balance of 8% of factories saw new orders increase in the three months to July, an easing in the pace of growth in the previous five quarters." [From The Independent.]

Does the phrase "an easing in the pace of growth" mean that 'the pace of grows' is slower or faster?

Thank you.

Thank you, Avangi, for your reply. Yes, I've thought that the pace of the growth is slower but wasn't sure about it.
