earth/mud/soil/dirt

The outside walls of an earthship are made by packing old tires with earth.

Hi,

Does "earth" in the above equate "mud/soil/dirt" to you? Thanks.

Hi Angliholic, I gather 'earthship' here is some sort of dwelling / house - is it right? Anyway, your sentence sounds awkward. Do you try to say that the walls of the house are made by packing the tires together and then covering them with mud?

  • I don't like 'earth'; and I prefer 'mud' over 'dirt' or 'soil'.

I'm afraid that only 'earth' sounds good to me. Mud is wet, dirt is dirty, and soil is for growing vegetables.
