Vocabulary

earthly vengeance and retribution

I am really having a hard time trying to translate in French (I AM French) the expression :
"that demands earthly vengeance and retribution"
in the following sentence :

"I think that any religion that demands earthly vengeance and retribution for any reason is not really a religion at all, but an illness and should be treated as such."

I get the meaning, but nothing "feels right" in French. Any help appreciated.

Demands: Requires, has a law for, expects. Earthly: Just meaning that punishment is inflicted on the living person (as opposed to the soul) Vengeance/Retribution: Punishment, torture, execution, lynching. Hope that helps some, I speak no French, so I can't begin to know where the translation problem lies.

You will have to wait for a native French speaker, but in the meantime, maybe some of my bad French may give you some ideas.

(... religion) qui exige qu'on tire vengeance (de ...???) [ou/et] qu'on [use de represailles / rende la pareille] (a ...??) [en ce bas monde / ici-bas] pour quel qu'en soit la raison, ...n'est pas (vraiment) de religion (du tout).
