I don't think this is correct, unless the sentences are very famous.

For example "The two towers" as in "The lord of the ring: The two towers"

Science_guru, there should be a the, because this refers to the two sentences mentioned above. What you are talking about is another use of the definite article: the sun, the moon etc.

Miche, I am aware that we need to use article "the" if we have already mentioned something.

I would say, "the sentences", "the first sentence", "the second sentence".

I felt it a bit odd to say, "the two sentences"

"Are the two sentences right/correct?"

You can't say "Are sentences..." because that would refer to ALL sentences ever written and to be written in the future!
