earlier and hitherto

Dear teachers,
Can I say as follows?:

Situation 1: 20 minutes ago Mr Brown called the hotel receptionist-Ms Jane - to book a room,but she was out,Now Mr Brown calls her again and she is available in the hotel now.

Mr Brown: Good morning, Miss Jane.I have called you earlier to book a room, but you were out.Now I would like to book a room for tomorrow please .

Situation 2:In today's discussion Jack keeps silent but now he speaks up
Can I saylike this?:
Jack hitherto silent , breaks in " I don't agree to the proposal"
Jack, who has been silent until now, braks in " I don't agree to the proposal"

Situation 3: Mary had a toothache 15 minutes ago and now she is still having the toothache.Now her mother says:
Mom : Mary,why don't you eat your lunch?
Mary : Mom , I can't eat my lunch yet.I have been having a toothache for a while now (When saying "for a while now" I mean "I have been having a toorthache for 15 minutes now" )

I would appreciate it very much if you could check and correct my sentences if anything is wrong.
