'each' vs 'respectively'

Could you confirm whether both of the following sentences are okay? Than you.

1. Who is in charge of purchasing office supplies in each department?

Only the first sentence is OK. "respectively" doesn't fit in the second sentence. It seems to me you would need some kind of ordered list of the people involved (alphabetized, for example) to use "respectively".

Susan and Sam will wash and dry the dishes respectively.
