Each of A and B

I see the phrase "each of an intra-picture slice and an inter-picture slice" in a patent application concerning video coding technology. Clearly, "each" is intended to govern both "an intra-picture slice" and "an inter-picture slice". I wonder whether this expression is grammatically correct. If not, what is an alternative expression?
