each causes

I've got confused with the word "each" in the following context:

"computer/software was involved in eight events.Equipment Performance, and Design Configuration & Analysis were each causes in four of these events.

Is this saying that Equipment Performance was cause in four events, Design Configuration & Analysis was cause in the other four events?

Your information will be highly appreciated.

It's vague. Seems to me that all three were involved. More context might help.

Sorry for misleading.

There are totally 152 events. Computer/software was involved in eight of them.
There are four main cause categories associated with all the events:
  • Equipment performance
  • Personnel work practices
  • Written procedures and documents
  • Design configuration and analysis.
This may help you understanding my post.
