Speech & Pronunciation

Ea sound

Hello! I would like to know whether there is any rule on how to pronounce ea in a word.

Here are some examples with ea pronounced differently in some words:
  • eat: it sounds like "it"
  • peace: it sounds like a long e
  • Sean: it sounds like the word "yawn" to me
Also, are there any basic pronunciation rules you can refer to me. I would be really grateful to you!
