E-mail to a professor about job posted on ***

Hi Everyone,

This is a draft e-mail to a professor about a job posted online.
Writing a formal e-mail to a professor always is not an easy task for me. Could you please proofread this and give me some advice?
Thank you so much.

Dear Dr. XXX

I am a graduate student in XXX at XXX University.
I have graduated this May and am interested in applying to the PhD position posted on ***.
My areas of interests are ***, ***, and ***. I am particularly intrigued by ***.
This is the field that I would like to continue my study.
I have a *** GPA and presented my pilot study ‘(TITLE)’ in a poster session at *** and ***.
In addition, I will be working as a research assistant for Dr. *** and Dr. *** from June, 2016.
With this experience, I will be able to obtain subsequent research skills throughout a year and I am expecting that I will learn more about *** and ***.

My concern is that my lack of research experience by the time I apply for your position this year.
*** and *** have always been the areas of my research interests and I will apply again next year if I fail this time.

Thus, I was wondering whether you could give me some advice on specific research skills that you are looking for this position and your program. I would like to prepare myself to be a stronger candidate for future application.
For your review, here I have attached my CV and the poster.

Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience.

Sincerely yours,

***
