Dyed eyebrows

On Newsnight (Britain's most serious television news magazine) this evening, the spokesman wheeled out by the government to deny the latest allegations that it is driven by spin to such an extent that opportunities for spin are the main determinant of its polices had grey hair and deeply ginger eyebrows. Deeply, deeply ginger. They were dyed, no question about it. (And he used his hands and voice like someone who had been on too many 'How To Sell A Pre-Owned Car' courses.)

Is there a word for this circumstance?

  • I didn't see the clip, but if it was that obvious I think I'd have taken that as an indication that it wasn't dyed.

[nq:1]I'm not sure. I think it could equally apply to something rolled out on a dolly. The implication is that it's being brought on stage to show to people.[/nq]
Cf 'Wheel him in'. When some unfortunate is brought in to be severely lectured at for a misdemeanour.

[nq:1]Why "wheeled out"? Was the spokesman in a wheelchair?[/nq]
No. If he had been, I would have called him a spokesperson.

But if I had scales on my eyes, wouldn't I *be* one of the lizards?
