1) I'll read the book during the weekend
2) I'll read the book over the weekend.
Which one is more natural? And the is essential?
If I use "during weekend," it's wrong in temrs of grammer?

It is more natural (and grammatically correct) to say
over the weekend.
The preposition during is associated to a definite period of time (i.e. during the 1990s). Over, on the other hand, is a preposition which can incorporate about 8 different senses, none of which is represented in the present case. The answer to your question can not b
