"during" or "for"

Hi all,

I have a question about "during" and "for". In the sentence below, which one is the right one?

a. I haven't really made friends for the past six months
b. I haven't really made friends during the past six months.

Are these okay? And if there are other better ways or alterations, I'd really appreciate.
Thank you everyone.
