can i use both in the following sentence

we went switzerland four times during(while) 1976's

what's the different between a during and a while?

As far As I know, We use During + noun, ex. "during the last decade", "during the performance", "during 1976's" But we use While + Subject + verb, ex. "while I was watching", "while we were waiting".

As far As I know,

We use During + noun, ex. "during the last decade", "during the performance", "during 1976's"

But we use While + Subject + verb, ex. "while I was watching", "while we were waiting".

We cannot use "while" in the above sentence. The reason is explained below.

(a) "During" is a preposition that takes a noun or noun phrase. <During> + <Noun/Noun phrase>
