dufference between "tell of" and "tell about"!

Good day respectful teachers

I am confused with these two expressions (I think they are phrasal verbs).

Tell of

Tell about

Do they change in meaning?
Do they change the meaning of sentence?

Examples:

The story tells of the spring in the village.
The story tells about the spring in the village.

She tells of her life.
She tells about her life.

Or in an interview, it is normal to say: Tell me about yourself.

But may be not : Tell me of yourself.

Thank you very much in advance.

In normal modern speech, it is much more common to say tell about. Tell of is mostly literary or poetic.

They are not phrasal verbs. The verb and the prepositions are used in their normal range of meanings.
