'due diligence'...what does this mean?

I read this phrase in an article printed in the International Herald Tribune.

'He said his due diligence of Daedong Credit had convinced him that it was "fully legal".'

I'm sure that there is nothing wrong with the sentence but I still don't understand what 'his due diligence of Daedong Credit ' is supposed to mean..Please help me.

Thank you very much ^^

"Due diligence" means that you have made an appropriate level of investigation into something. You have learned the appriopriate amount of information. I have to assume that Daedong Credit is the company he is looking into.
