Drops off his/the kids / drops his/the kids off

Hi. I'm writing a script.

Jake is driving, his (two) kids in the backseat.

In the next scene -

Jake drops off his/the kids at Mona's house. / Jake drops his/the kids off at Mona's house.

Which one of the two bold-face sentences would you go with? And would you write "the kids" when the scene comes right after a scene where it has been established that he's driving with his kids?
