What do you call those students that dropped out of a school, in a formal way?

Thanks:)

  • I cannot think of a single-word term, so you will have to paraphrase to something like this: a student who has withdrawn before graduation .

There isn't a formal term for them, everywhere in the world. Calling them dropouts is fine.

You could also say that they left before/without sitting their final exams or, before/without completing their final year.
